Our Story

Berber rugs do not fit the stereotype of African art. Much like African art, however, these rectangular compositions woven by Moroccan women are religious works intended to ward off negative spiritual forces. For their nomadic makers, rugs provided both physical and metaphysical protection.

The patterns that most frequently appear in Moroccan rugs are traditional and ancient, passed down from weaver to weaver. The woman who makes the rug decides the pattern, telling the story of her personal life through her choice of symbols, thus making each rug unique.

A very liberating tradition that promotes artistic freedom in its purest sense.
